A Decade Review

Wow, it’s the start of a whole new decade! I mean I get all the stereotypical feels about the New Year, but a new decade takes it to a whole new level.

This decade has been truly transformational for me. It was the first full decade of adulthood for me. I mean I was only 21 when it started. Basically still just a baby.

Right at the very start of this last decade in 2010, I started managing a salon, got married, and bought a house. Whoa!

Shortly after, I had my son Chael.

Followed that with a year in full blown depression. I blamed it on postpartum initially, but considering Chael was about a year old by the time it really hit me, I realized I had a lot of childhood and early adulthood issues I needed to get through.

Which led me to therapy. I tackled my depression head on and did the deep work to pull myself out of it. I worked with my therapist for a full year, and let me tell you....I highly recommend it!

In 2013 I started my studio business, taking full service clients. A year in I really loved it and dove in head first to build my clientele.

In 2015 I left the salon I was managing, had my daughter Macey and spent that year working very part time while focusing on motherhood.

At the end of that year I started my weight loss journey and focused on my health and fitness for about 2 years. I had lost 40 pounds, exercised regularly and felt great.

Then 2017 brought lots of change with picking up a second job temporarily (which caused my health to decline), starting a MLM business, hiring a business coach, a salon re-brand and really scaling my business to a whole new level.

2018 I was introduced to the personal growth world and OMG it’s been a game changer! I also went into my very own studio by myself, and let go of the MLM when I realized it just wasn’t something that was benefiting me or my family.

And then there was 2019… This was the year I truly figured out who I am, what I stand for, what my priorities are and I found my voice.

I also started the journey into a whole food, plant based diet, which has created a whole new passion. That passion led me to enroll in school to become a nationally certified health coach in the next few months so that I can educate and empower more people to see the amazing benefits of this lifestyle

So to say that this decade was transformational even feels like an understatement. So many highs and lows. Lessons and pitfalls. Also so much growth, love, and health all throughout.

Now your turn. It really is amazing to go back through each year of the 2010 decade and see what has happened in your life in those years.

I challenge you to do that. Reflect on the year and decade, and then move on to dreaming up a vision for the year and decade ahead.

What do you want your life to look like and what will it take to make it happen?

Close your eyes and envision the life you want for yourself in the next year, 5 years and 10 years. GET SPECIFIC!

Then write it all down. From there you can start to map out what it would look and what it will take to get there.

From there you can work backwards from that vision and create a road map to the life you want to live. And I will be here every step of the way to cheer you on!

If this resonates with you at all, be sure to let me know. Is there anything else in the goal setting topic you would like me to cover? Send me an email or DM me on social media and let's open up the conversation. I love encouraging others to work towards their dreams
