Have you ever wanted a big hair change? Have you ever complained about your hair being too thin, or too short?
If so, then extensions might be the answer for you!
But before you even consider them, let me debunk some common extension myths!
"Extensions are damaging.."
WRONG!!! Extensions themselves do not damage hair!
What does cause damage when wearing extensions?
*Improper at home care and
*Wearing the wrong extensions for your hair type.
It’s always recommended to go to a certified extensions specialist as they will know the proper installation techniques as well as knowing if your hair is strong enough to handle certain methods. They will also explain exactly how to care for them at home between visits and how long until you’ll need to come back and tighten them.
"I’m too old.."
OMG this couldn't be further from the truth!
90% of my extension clients are over the age of 40.
It’s easy to scroll Instagram and see all of the long Rapunzel locks that reach the waist of the 20 years olds and get discouraged. (Let's be honest, most of us have envisioned ourselves with that princess hair, even my 4 year old is guilty of it, I blame Frozen).
Majority of extension clients out there are really wearing them for the volume more than length. If they are adding length, it’s generally just to add a few inches.
The client’s coming to me are tired of feeling like their hair doesn’t grow past a certain length. They are noticing that after having kids and when hormones start doing wonky things that their hair is much thinner than before and they just want fullness.
So don’t let age hold you back!
"They are too much work.."
Most people think that extensions mean more work every morning, but I've got to tell you, my clients are spending way less time on their hair every single week!
With extensions you only want to be washing your hair 1-2 times a week, so you'll be saving time in the shower, time on heat styling and will wake up way closer to out-the-door ready.
Your extensions come treated with a keratin-type of smoothing treatment which will keep your silky straight or soft and wavy days way less frizzy and way more effortless.
The extensions hold styling a bit longer than natural hair so you can look forward to waking up and just needing a couple of touch ups most days of the week.
"They cost WAY too much.."
Extensions are an investment, but there is an option for just about any budget.
For instance, if you are just wanting to fill in the sides because your hair never grows there, then you can just get a pack or 2 of tape-ins or i-tips and the install on that is much more cost effective.
Cost starts to add up when you’re looking to extend length or trying to blend in a blunt bob, as you'll need more hair.
The installs and move ups really aren’t too expensive, it’s the initial hair cost that is most costly.
You want to get them done by a certified specialist, which usually will cost a little more, as they have more experience, knowledge and are usually invested in a quality brand they love.
As with most things, the phrase "you get what you pay for" applies and extensions are a luxury service, but rest assured they aren’t just for the rich and famous!
Consultations are always complimentary, I would love to connect with you to see if we can give you the hair of your dreams!
I really hope this helped answer any questions you had to decide if extensions are right for you.
